SPBEC is a private engineering and EPC enterprise. The company’s core business is engineering solutions design, installation, and commissioning, with a specialization in industrial automation and electric power distribution.
To date, more than 1,600 projects have been realized by more than 600 employees, over 370 of which are engineers.
St.Petersburg electrotechnical company (SPBEC) is founded by Aleksandrs Narodickis. The business is supply of electric motors to industrial enterprises.
SPBEC builds a foundational team of engineers and managers and moves into working on excitation systems. A small group of employees receive training at a General Electric facility in the United States.
In 1999, SPBEC contracts its first project for one of its oldest clients, Severstal. Since that first installation of two electric drive systems, maintaining long-term cooperation with the steel giant is one of SPBEC’s priorities.
Growing and Training
In 2003, SPBEC begins adding turnkey projects to its portfolio.
The company is actively seeking out and hiring top engineers and professionals in its target markets of metallurgy and pulp and paper.
SPBEC opens a training center. Classrooms are outfitted with equipment by Danfoss, General Electric, Siei, and Siemens. In this setting, class participants can apply their knowledge, learn to program controllers, and work with frequency converters and visualization systems. Engineering professionals come from all over Russia and the CIS to receive training.
Turnover in 2003 is more than 3 million USD.
New Direction and Market
In light of Russia’s slow industrial development, SPBEC begins offering customers solutions for modernizing old equipment and running automatic process control systems.
SPBEC’s mining department is created, opening new geographical markets, such as China, and bringing in new clients, like Alrosa, Norilsk Nickel, Mikhailovsky plant, and SDICXinjiEnergyCo. Ltd.
2005 was the first year of SPBEC’s annual mountaineering expeditions. It is an example for our employee motivation and team-building as an important part of SPBEC’s culture, and it has become a tradition. Over the years, the flag of SPBEC has flown on peaks in Nepal, Tanzania, Austria, Italy, Germany, and Altai.
Growth through Challenge
SPBEC receives ISO 9001:2008 certification, and goes through a period of intensive growth and achievement, solving interesting challenges for its clients.
Starting in 2006, a significant portion of the budget goes toward educating SPBEC employees. Every year, employees have the opportunity to receive education and training in European universities like RWTH Aachen, University of Durham, European Business School Oestrich-Winkel, and IMD Business School, Switzerland. SPBEC fosters partnerships with leading Russian and foreign universities such as Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University, Tomsk Polytechnic University and Freiberg University of Mining and Technology.
In 2008, SPBEC owner and CEO, Alexandrs Narodickis, is awarded «Chief of the Year 2008» by the Saint Petersburg business community in recognition of his belief in and support for employee training and development, health care, and motivation.
Turnover is over 76 million USD.
The company’s construction department is created, and SPBEC begins moving into new markets in light industry.
SPBEC opens offices in Irkutsk, Koryazhma, Krasnodarsky region, and Kirovsk.
Three new companies are founded: TOO SPEC Kazakhstan, Siir Morocco, and ElectroTech Industries Switzerland.
The SPBEC team grows to more than 500 employees.
New Horizons and New Look
Turnover reaches more than 117 million USD.
Together with partners, SPBEC begins to participate in new international projects, with a focus on developing economies.
SPBEC rebrands, choosing a logo that reflects the company’s achievements, international expansion, and a continuing drive for superior engineering.
In the end of 2016, according to the estimates of the Ministry of Economic Development, SPBEC has entered into 30 of the best high-tech companies in Russia. The selection was carried out within the framework of project of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russian Federation "The support for private high-tech leader companies".
Major projects in the construction industry have been implemented.
